Transition from the Scholarship Program to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program

Once you complete your National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program (NHSC SP) service commitment, you can apply for an NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP) award.

We consider these applications on a non-competitive basis.

How do I apply?

You can submit your application when the new award application cycle opens.

Can I stay at the same NHSC site?

Yes. As long as you fulfill your Scholarship commitment on or before September 28 of the application year, and your NHSC LRP service will begin on or before September 30 of the application year.

Can I transfer to another NHSC site?

Yes, you may transfer to another eligible NHSC-approved site provided you complete the documentation and submit to us via the BHW Customer Service Portal for approval.
