It's Time to Apply to Become a National Health Service Corps Site

Become a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site now! Through scholarship and loan repayment programs, the NHSC helps clinicians and students pay off their student debt in exchange for providing health care in communities with significant health professional shortages. For more than 50 years, the NHSC has been building healthy communities by incentivizing primary care medical, dental, and behavioral health providers to work and stay at health care facilities in areas of the U.S. with limited access to health care.

To recruit NHSC scholars to your health care facility, or promote the loan repayment program to your clinicians, your site must be NHSC-approved. The New Site Application closes on June 22, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET. If you're unsure whether your site is NHSC-approved, visit the Health Workforce Connector to check.

Additional optional language

Q: Who can apply to become an NHSC-approved site?

A: Eligible health care facilities can apply to become a National Health Service Corps (NHSC)-approved site.

Q: What sites are eligible for NHSC approval?

A: Eligible sites include:

  • Health care facilities that provide outpatient, primary health care services (medical, dental, and behavioral/mental health) to populations residing in high-need urban and rural areas.
  • Facilities providing general Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment, a Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Program or an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP).
Q: Are clinicians at federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and look-alikes eligible to apply?

A: Yes. FQHCs and look-alikes are auto approved site types, which means they can submit an NHSC site application at any time (even outside of the New Site Application cycle).
