Military Reservists Loan Repayment Eligibility

Reservists of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard, are eligible to participate in either the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP) or the NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (S2S LRP).

What should reservists understand about their service commitment?

• Military training or service you performed will not satisfy the NHSC service commitment.
• You should request a suspension if your military training and/or service, combined with your other absences from the service site, will exceed seven weeks per service year.
• We will extend the service commitment end date to compensate for the break in NHSC service.

What if the Armed Services deploys you?

If deployed, we expect you to return to the NHSC service site where you were serving prior to deployment. If you are unable to do so, you must request a transfer to another NHSC-approved service site.

If you fail to seek a transfer and subsequently refuse to accept an NHSC assignment to another service site, we will place you in default of your service obligation.
